Megan's Best Friend

We watched Lily for a little while today while Alison took her other kids swimming. Megan was just delighted to have her little friend over. She just kept laughing and laughing when Lily came. As you can tell from the pictures, Lily was a little groggy and more interested in the Baby Einstein movie than she was in Megan, but Megan didn't seem to care. When Alison came to pick Lily up, Megan started crying and then quickly walked over to the window, pushed the curtains out of the way, stood on her little scooter so she could see out the window and waved bye-bye for the first time.

I think these little girls are just beginning to forge a bond that is going to last for a very, very long time.....and that makes me happy!

Hiking at Mount Rainier

Today was a beautiful day so we decided to go on a family hike up at Sunrise in Mount Rainier National Park. It was Jordan's first real hike and he did pretty well. It was only 3 miles, but sure felt a lot longer with the kids in tow. He did get tired by the end and wanted to be carried. When he gets tired he acts really silly, so as we were hiking along the trail he was laughing his head off and stumbling down the trail. People who passed us were all very amused by him.

At one point, Andrew was carrying both kids.

Andrew tried doing the piggy-back thing, but Jordan was choking him, so they resorted to this. Jordan was actually really comfortable.

Taking time to smell the flowers.

The County Fair

On Thursday we went with our friends, the Burdette's to the King County Fair. We had fun looking at the animals and tractors and Jordan got to be a bear in a little circus. He was the littlest participant, and as you can tell from the video, had no clue what was going on. He did roar into the microphone, which was pretty cute. He was very happy to dress up as a bear, but he looked so hot because it was thick canvas and it was a super hot day. It was a fun outing, but we had to call it quits after a couple of hours when Megan let us know she had had enough!

Kitsap Live Steamers

I would venture to say that today was the best day of Jordan's life, thus far. He's always had a fascination with trains, as most boys do, and today he actually got to ride one. We went to a park in Port Orchard today where they had a bunch of mini trains that you could ride on. The ride took about 10 minutes and we must have gone half a dozen times. He's been carrying around his little train with him all day and has been talking about ever since we got home. In fact, right now he is sitting on my lap, watching videos of our train adventure on our other computer screen and asking me, "Go ride the train, mommy?" This is definitely something we will be doing again, but we'll have to wait awhile because it's only open every other Saturday. Try explaining that to a 3-year -old. I just keep telling him that the trains got tired and had to go rest.

4th of July

We spent the 4th of July weekend at the cabin with my family. Because there are so many little kids when we get together we usually stagger our visits so we're not all there at the same time, thus preventing the chaos that develops. Marianne decided to come up this year so of course nobody wanted to miss out. The weather was perfect and we spent every afternoon cooling off at the lake. I ended up sleeping with Megan in a tent because she has a hard time sleeping away from home and I didn't want her waking everybody up. Little did I know that while I was in the tent with her the first night, my mom was up with Jordan from midnight until 4 am. The kids loved playing in the dirt (especially Megan) and I even got to squeeze in one game when Andrew came up for the last day. We've only been home for 1 day and Jordan has already asked me about a dozen times if we can go back.

All of the grandkids, minus Johnny and Brigham. There's always somebody crying when we do these group shots, but we just can't resist.

Catch Up

I was looking through my pictures and realized that I never put the pictures from when Alison and I took the kids to Woodland Park Zoo last week. Jordan had a blast and has been talking about it ever since.

Megan was a trooper too and was happy as long as she was in the backpack. It took her just a few minutes in the car before she crashed on the way home.

This picture was taken the day before Father's Day. That was a stressful day for me because Andrew was working and I had to plan a last minute lesson for Relief Society and make brownies for the father's in our ward. While I was cleaning up some milk Megan had spilled on the carpet Jordan got into the brownie batter. At this point I pretty much felt like crying, but I think I just laughed because he looked like his biggest dreams had just come true.

Typical Girl!

Megan woke up from her nap today really cranky which is not like her. I couldn't figure out what she wanted. She cried if I held her and she cried if I put her down. I checked her diaper, tried to feed her, gave her a drink and gave her Tylenol. Nothing worked. So....I plopped her down on the floor with some chocolate chips and the crying instantly stopped. I told Andrew, "Such a typical girl. I don't know why I'm crying but for some reason choclolate makes everything better."

"Don't even think about taking my chocolate!"

Megan loves playing with my purse. Whenever she gets a hold of it she drags it around the room and has a very serious look on her face like she's doing something very important. She cracks me up....such a typical girl. I love it!
