Cousins

The 4 year olds...after they've been playing around in the dirt and getting into all kinds of mischief!!

The big first-graders!!!

Teddy Bear Picnic- 4th of July Style

Getting ready to begin the festivities of the day!

We started out with a parade through the prairie...and were surprised to actually have a few spectators.  This was a tradition for my family growing up.  We were always disappointed when we were young that we couldn't light off fireworks on the 4th when we were at the cabin so we spent the day putting together a parade instead.  We decorated up the horses and our bikes with streamers and went walking around the neighboring cabins.  It's a fun memory that now is being passed onto the next generation!!

Picnic time with the teddy bears

Puppet shows

Crafts

Fishing for prizes

and of course, a pinata to end the fun!

This picture made me laugh when I saw it...only a Grandpa could sleep through the chaos and noise of a dozen grandchildren.    I do have to say he had every reason to be tired as we was up at 2 am, driving Alison to the ER in Yakima because she was in a lot of pain and spiking a high fever, which ended up being a kidney infection.

I think the day was a success.....

What do you think?????

Summer's here!

What do you do when school gets out?  Have some friends over and have a water fight, of course!!!

My big first-grader... He got off the bus on the last day of school holding this book of memories, complete with art projects, writing and drawing assignments and pictures, many of which I had never seen.
