Cousins make the best friends

Megan and Lily have been spending a lot of time together.  Whenever they get picked up at preschool they ask if they can keep playing at one of their houses, so they pretty much spend 3 days together every week.  They play just like sisters, they're either "on" or "off," but as Lily explained to Alison the other day, "Even when me and Megan are fighting, we still love each other."...sure sounds a lot like sisters to me.

A Baby! A Baby! We're having a Baby!!!!

We broke the news to the kids a few days ago that a new baby will be joining our family in September.  I showed them the picture of the ultrasound and asked if they could tell what it was.  They both looked very confused, and so I had Jordan read the word written in the corner of the picture.  It took him a few minutes of quietly sounding it out, until out the word came..."baby."  He said it very quietly and the kids both looked at me with shocked look on their faces...like does this mean what I think it means.  I told them there was a baby in my tummy and they both started laughing and cheering.  We looked through the calendar to see all the days that had to pass before the baby was ready to come out.  It must have made an impression because the next day Megan's preschool teacher told me that after Megan had excitedly told her the news that a baby was in her Mommy's tummy, her teacher asked her, "Well, when is the baby coming?"  Megan replied, "Well, I'm not really sure, but I think it's going to take a very long time.  We have to go through the whole entire calendar first!"  Let the long wait begin.....

Quick Trip to Yakima

My parents went to Yakima to visit Jordan and watch him perform a violin piece in his Stake Talent Show.  They had 3 extra seats, so the kids and I tagged along.  The kids had so much fun playing with their cousins and have been talking about the trip ever since.  Jordan wrote a little paper about it for a school assignment.  This is his summary of the weekend...all spelling errors have been corrected, as to make it readable to anyone other than Jordan....

"I went to Yakima! My friend was there.  His name is Johnny.  We went to the Kid's Castle.  Johnny showed me how to get to the biggest slide.  We went on the trampolines.  Then we went in the foam.  We played foam fight.  I was covered in foam.  We went back to Johnny's house.  We played the XBox.  Then we ate lunch.  Then we went home.  It was the best day ever!"

February Pictures

The kids spent a Sunday afternoon working on making valentines for their classmates.  It kept them occupied for an hour or so and made out for a nice, quiet afternoon.

Megan broke out with a bad case of hives, which has left her quiet miserable for the last couple of days.   The doctor said it was related to a virus she had at the same time, which was a mild cough.  She's being a trooper and is trying very hard not to scratch all her itchy spots.

Andrew snapped this picture of Megan at one of Jordan's basketball games.  This is a face we often see on Megan, but I've never managed to get it on camera.  The funny thing is that she bites her tongue when she's mad, which is the very same thing I would do when I was little.  Oh Megan....full of so many emotions!!!!

Jordan Turns 7!!!!!

Jordan turned 7 even though his mom told him he wasn't allowed to.  The festivities spanned a whole week, and started out with breakfast in bed on his birthday.  He had requested it the night before, but had to wait in bed a little longer than usual as he's my early riser and woke up at 5.  Every 20 minutes or so, he would come out and ask if his breakfast was on it's way.  I think we held him off until 6:30 or so.  Luckily, we have a portable DVD player that kept him entertained while he waited.

Later that day we had a birthday party with friends, followed by a party with the Stout clan on Sunday where Grandma Erin and Grandpa James gave him a special invitation to go on an "ice cream date" with them later in the week.  We ended the fesivities with a  birthday party on the following Saturday with the Bolles clan to celebrate the 4 January birthdays.  All of these celebrations have left Megan feeling a little overly excited about her birthday, which she now talks about constantly....too bad it's not until June!!!!

Basketball

Jordan has started playing basketball for the first time and was thrilled that his first game was against his best friend, Diego.  I think he had more fun sitting on the sidelines hanging out with his friend than he did playing.
